Facial Wipe Wednesday: L'oreal's Revitalift Cleansing Towelettes

To contact us Click HERE
When I review a facial wipe, I have been using it for at least 7 days straight. That way I can experiment with different types of makeup and such. That was, until I started using these...I used L'oreal's Revitalift Radiant Smoothing Wet Cleansing Towelettes. They lasted 4 days, that's all.
Here's why; these are so heavily-perfumed that it gives me a headache. A big one! I'm not often sensitive to smells but I totally am with these. And to have that smell around my face and ON my face was not going to last.
How unassuming these look and feel. In fact, the cloth, itself, is soft. But, it only did a so-so job of removing my makeup. In all honesty, it could have been because I didn't work it long enough on my face. I hurried to get it over with.
These are the ingredients, and I have no issues, really, with them. My big thumbs down is all based on the overwhelming perfume smell. The packaging says that it has vitamin C in it. I wish they would have made it smell like oranges then. Sigh.

Have you tried L'oreal's Cleansing Towelettes?

Chick Nail Polish: Raven's Egg

To contact us Click HERE
Chick Nail Polish is a new-to-me brand. They were gracious enough to help sponsor the last Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida meet up that I attended.  And, this is where I acquired this polish. (You can purchase their polish, $9, from their website.)

Before I go any further, I'm saying right now, this is the most vibrant blue polish I now own. It is such a treat to get the same shade that the bottle presents on my nails. This is 'Raven's Egg'....

And, 'Raven's Egg' was a smooth operator too. Just two coats to awesomeness...
That shine is without a top coat!! And Chick Nail Polish stayed in place until I took it off. Sadly, however, this polish stained the heck out of my cuticles and nails. But, since it is a gorgeous blue, I'm willing to put up with it. I just gave my skin extra scrubs.

Can you see how smooth it is? I love this polish because it makes me look skilled at polish application. So easy! Ahh, hypnotic...
I would like to try another shade of Chick Nail Polish to see if all of them are as great as 'Raven's Egg'.

If you have tried Chick Nail Polish, how did you like it? If you are a lover of blue polish, you want this one, right?

This product was given to me for my honest review. These opinions are my own.

Meow, kittens!  Today I'd like to share the three Dr's REMEDY Breast Cancer Awareness shades for 2012.  They are *PURITY Pink, *NURTURE Nude Pink and *HOPEFUL Hot Pink.  For information about these shades you can check out their press release HERE.  First up, the pics:
PURITY Pink, three coats, shot indoors.
PURITY Pink, three coats, shot outdoors.
NURTURE Nude Pink, two coats, shot indoors.
NURTURE Nude Pink, two coats, shot outdoors.
HOPEFUL Hot Pink, two coats, shot indoors.
HOPEFUL Hot Pink, two coats, shot outdoors.
NURTURE Nude Pink is a very pale pink.  As I stated, I used three coats to get the color shown above.  The quality of this polish, as is the case with all the Dr.'s REMEDY polishes I've tried, was quite nice.  However, I'm not particularly a fan of nudes so this wasn't my taste.  Of course, different strokes for different folks.
PURITY Pink is a bit more pigmented and has a bit of pretty shimmer.  I definitely preferred this to NURTURE.  Again, nice easy application with a smooth workable formula.
Last up, by far my favorite of the three, HOPEFUL Hot Pink.  This vibrant pink cream is much more my style.  Great formula, richly pigmented and just a fun look.
When purchased during the month of October, Dr.'s REMEDY will donate 10% of the proceeds from the sales of these three shades to Living Beyond Breast Cancer so please, if these strike your fancy, hurry and purchase them asap so that your purchase can help a great cause.
Dr.'s REMEDY products may be purchased online at www.remedynails.com or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.  If you wish, you may like their facebook page by clicking HERE and follow them on Twitter by clicking HERE.

China Glaze - It's a Trap-eze!

To contact us Click HERE
Today, I'd like to share one of the polishes from China Glaze's "Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away" collection.  This one is called *It's a Trap-eze!  Each of the following pics features two coats over one coat of base.
Shot outdoors, in sun.
Shot outdoors, in shade.
Shot indoors.
To my eye, It's a Trap-eze can probably best described as multi-colored glitter in varying sizes embedded in a sheer, milky white base.  I had a bit of trouble applying it.  I found that the glitter applied unevenly and often hung off the edges of my nails.  It also dried rather bumpy, as one would probably expect from such a chunky glitter.  However, my husband really liked this one on me and with a top coat, it wasn't rough-feeling, just bumpy.  It is definitely unique in my collection and if you're a fan of chunky glitters, it would certainly be worth a try.
Be sure to check back for more colors in this collection to be featured soon!

I'm starting a new thing here on the blog, where if I can't post the usual drugstore makeup sale round-up on Saturday (which I always strive to do), then I'm going to at least do a quick post letting you know about the can't-miss deals for the week ahead.
Things have been a little crazy at La Casa de Nouveau Cheap this weekend, but I will have the full sale round-up posted by tomorrow (Sunday). In the meantime, here are the best deals of the week (in my humble opinion):

Lipstick League Question of the Week
What one makeup brush do you consider an absolute staple in your makeup kit?
G's answer: This is going to come as no surprise to long-time readers, but I have to go with $1 e.l.f. eyeshadow brush. Aside from being ridiculously inexpensive, the bristles on this brush are densely-packed, so it picks up color beautifully and it deposits color beautifully as well. It's a great multi-tasker and can be used for all-over application, crease color application as well as for blending. On quick weekend trips out of town, I've often packed just this brush for eyeshadow application and been perfectly happy. I've been using this brush for more than six years now and it never sheds--it's virtually indestructible. I feel like I pick up an extra every time I go to Target, just so I'll never be without it.

I've got a feelin'....

This color is from the Wet n Wild Fergie collection, it's called Tonight's Going to be a Good Night, and surprise, I love it. This color is basically the opposite of Sally Hansen Bridal Veil, it's black hex glitter mixed with larger gold hexes in a clear base. Black glitter - go Wet n Wild! ♥

Here it is over an un-named LA Girl's gray cream:

and this is overtop Going Platinum, which is also from the Fergie line. I really like this combo.

Thanks for looking!

I recently had the ultimate haul....yes, are you ready for this? Sit, down, cuz, I scored Gosh at Big Lots.....and not just any Gosh, but THREE bottles of Gosh Holographic!!!! For $2 each. Oh yeah, I hit the polish lottery. Behold:

Now, I had to dig...like really dig through almost 20 tubs of dirty cosmetics to find them, but I looked and it was worth it. I'll be swatching Holographic later this week....and I'll be giving away one of these bottles soon.

I picked up one other Gosh color, it's called Purple Heart. PH is a duochrome that flashes purple/grey to green. This is one coat over black. I did have a hard time capturing the really purple color, but if you check out this bottle shot, that's what you see on the nail.

Thanks for looking!

Man, I don't know about you, but I'm already all in the Fall mood! I broke out the pumpkin spice candles and I'm about to hit the Franklin Cider Mill on the way to the Renaissance Festival tomorrow morning. The Ren Fest/Cider Mill trip always signals the official start of Fall for me.

Sooo, I need a polish that screams the season, and I chose OPI's Deutsch You Want Me Baby? DYWMB is a bright orange packed full of yellow shimmer, it positively glows.

This photo is a great visual of the yellow shimmer, make sure to enlarge the pick:

Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad nail catastrophe yesterday, I severely broke two nails trying to get a box down from a shelf...and both breaks were on my swatch hand! So I hope you don't mind the one finger swatches for a while.

Thanks for looking!

Color Club Feelin' Groovy is a perfect Halloween green!

I was swatching Color Club's Feelin' Groovy the other day and after seeing it on the nail, I thought it was a perfect shade of bright Halloween green! I think it'd be a great color for a Frankenstein themed mani....I'll have to think on that one for a bit and see if I can come up with something fun.

In the meantime, check it out:

You could just add some simple stitches to it (of course you'd probably do a better job that I did! LOL):

or some orange glitter:

Today I have some tombstone polish spam. I'm so ready for the Halloween season! The 1st color is #12423 Creepy Pumpkin. CP is a sheer orange base loaded with orange micro glitter. This is one coat over black:Next, we have #11137 Black Magic. BM is a clear base with multi colored thin bar glitter. Just like Creepy Pumpkin, this is one coat over black:This color is also called Black Magic, but it has a different number #12422. This polish is black with multi color super micro glitter. And lastly, we have #11139 Night Glow. NG is a glow in the dark topcoat. This is two coats, and as you can see, it leaves a bit of a haze overtop the base color:Now, I held both the bottle and my nails right up to the light for a decent amount of time, and although the bottle glowed brightly, there was zero glow on the nails. Thanks for looking!

I've found a new favorite among my pile of shadows from Inglot. It's called AMC Shine 26 and works pretty well with any shade!
