Thirteen Questions Tag
I woke up this morning and thought to myself, "I want to do something non-makeupy on the blog today" so I took to Twitter and Facebook and asked if anyone had a fun non-beauty-related tag that they could share with me. I want to thank everyone for the awesome suggestions--I looked through them and discovered that I actually kind of like certain questions from a variety of existing tags, so I figured what the heck? If I can't find the perfect tag to suit my mood right now, why not create one myself? So that's what I did.
This is a hodge-podge of different questions from a variety of existing tags, and I tweaked the wording of a few questions to make them more fun (hopefully) to answer.
Thirteen Questions Tag
(chosen because 13 is my lucky number, believe it or not)
1. What's one thing that most people don't know about you?
That I secretly wish I could be a radio DJ. Also, that I'm left-handed which, for some odd reason, always surprises people.
2. What's your favorite quote?“Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone.” --Dorothy Parker
3. What's one food that you can't live without?Sriracha. I put it on practically everything.
4. What's your song of the week? I've rediscovered this U2 cover of a Patti Smith song called Dancing Barefoot. U2 released this as a B-Side back in 1989 and you rarely hear it anymore, but I think it's a pretty amazing take on the original version.
5. What movies could you watch over and over and still love?Pretty In Pink, Say Anything, Less Than Zero, Almost Famous, Ghost World, The Color Purple, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Valley Girl...I could go on and on.
6. Can you change the oil on a car?My boyfriend in college insisted that I learn. He told me that every person needs to know how to change their own oil, and even though I didn't appreciate it then, I'm thankful now. It's been a while, but I think I could still do it. And I agree--it's something that everyone should know, at least in theory.
7. Favorite kind of sandwich?Goat cheese, fresh basil, roasted red peppers and balsamic vinegar on foccacia bread. I could eat this sandwich every day for a year and never grow tired of it.
8. Can you knit or crochet?I'm more of a knitter, and I can do very basic pot holders and scarves. I'm a complete beginner/novice even though I've (sadly) been knitting for years now, on and off. I have so much respect for knitters it's not even funny. They're rock gods in my eyes. Knitting is hard and they make it look so effortless.
9. How many languages can you speak? You mean besides that weird language that only you and your significant other speak to each other when no one else is around? Because I'm freaking fluent in that! OK, real answer: English and Spanish. I'm not fluent in Spanish, but I took it in high school and college and I know enough to get by in a basic conversation.
10. Be honest: do you ever forget your reusable shopping bags when you go to the grocery store?
Let me tell you--I've tried every trick in the book to make myself remember them every single time I shop (at the grocery store, Target, drugstores, you name it). But there are still times that I forget them, and I'm always disgusted with myself when I do. When that happens, I ask the checker to put as many items into one bag as possible, or I skip the bag (if it's a small purchase) and cram things in my purse and/or carry things in my hands.
11. Favorite type of pie?If forced at gunpoint to pick between cherry, peach and lemon meringue, I'd grab them all, head for the door and dodge bullets on my way out.
12. What do you wear to bed?My absolute favorite thing to wear to bed is a Curb Your Enthusiasm t-shirt that my dad got me a couple Christmases ago. It's got a big picture of Larry David's face on it with the words "Pretty, pretty, pretty good" underneath. I LOVE that shirt--it's big, comfy and the cotton is super, super soft. Oh, and I often pair that with pink pajama bottoms that have little red and pink hearts all over them.
13. Ever been in love?I've been in love exactly three times in my life, and let me tell you...the third time's a charm.
If you have a blog, consider yourself tagged! And if you don't have a blog, please feel free to leave your answers in the comments below. I LOVE reading tag responses so the more the merrier!
